First Long Trip on the Tiger

Took the new Triumph Tiger 800 out for its first long trip.  I went to Tampa and back.  I must say I am impressed.  The bike handled the back roads and the highway with equal ease.

The gas mileage was outstanding.  I got my best going between 60 and 65 MPH.  It would vary between 65 and 70 MPG at that speed.  Once I got it up to highway speeds of 70+ it dropped quite a bit but never less that 50 MPG.  Of course it also dropped when I was going through some of the small towns along the way.

What I liked most about the ride was the comfort.  I did have to stop and rest my legs periodically but overall my back felt great through the whole trip.  This is saying alot because I have a ruptured disc in my lower back that gave me issues when driving my Honda Shadow and to a lesser extent when driving my Bonneville.

Kayaking on the Wakulla River

Put in at the lower bridge.
I passed many cypress trees

There were plenty of quiet peaceful stretches.

I also passed a few sunbathers who were out enjoying the sunshine.

Still, at times, I felt like something was watching me.

At other times I felt like I was on the set of an old Tarzan movie.

I did get an occasional visitor or two but they left me pretty quickly.

Others slipped into the waves as they saw me approaching.

I finally reached the upper bridge after about two hours of paddling .

Finally, after a 6 mile trip, the end was in sight.
